Origin British, 1880

Silver and enamel with two coral beads and carved lapis lazuli flower motif, the reverse dated and dedicated in Burges's Gothic script 'Lizzie Gage 1880' The story of Puss in Boots from which the motif of this pendant is drawn was one Burges favoured in his decorative scheme for the Cardiff Castle nursery of circa 1879.
