Mrs Philip Newman (working 1870-1910) was a pupil & then became assistant to the artist-goldsmith, John Brogden. After Brogden's death in 1885 Mrs Newman set up her own business at number 10, Savile Row, where she combined her own technical ability & flair with the skills of some of Brogden’s former workmen. The resulting jewels, which were mostly executed on commission, are very individual in character
